Charlie Hawkes Landscape Design - 4.jpg

Charlie Hawkes is a landscape designer based in the UK. He set up his own practice in 2020 after working in Tom Stuart-Smith’s design studio for three years and in 2023 won a gold medal and Best Sanctuary Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. His garden at Chelsea 2022 also won gold and Best All About Plants Garden.

Charlie was named House & Garden’s 2022 Rising Star Garden Designer of the Year.

As well as pursuing design, Charlie considers himself gardener. A year working out in Japan at Dan Pearson’s Tokachi Millennium Forest, a placement at Great Dixter, and a summer working at Gravetye Manor have all contributed to a diverse range of hands-on experience. Together with a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the Edinburgh College of Art, his understanding of design and gardening has led to an approach of creating places with atmosphere that ally to each landscape’s unique character.
