This project was about providing interest in the latter half of the year. Spring and early summer were already beautiful, with formal elements tied together by a wilder colonisation of flowering plants at the garden’s fringes. The combination of loose formality and enhanced naturalism formed the direction for designing two new borders between the house and the main lawn. Spring bulbs and early summer perennials carry the planting through the first half of the year, preceding the main show of flowers from June to October. The images shown were taken on 7th September 2020, four months after the borders were planted.
